The Learning Community at Quest
The Learning Community at Quest is Altius Foundation’s most recent project. Quest is a space dedicated to learning, discovery and fun for all kinds of learners. With Quest, the Foundation has envisioned a space where different learners come together and form a learning community that is actively engaged in learning a variety of skills.
Quest is a 6500 sq. ft. space filled with abundant resources like an AV room equipped with 137″ screen & 7.1 surround sound, a kitchen designed for cooking and baking, a wide collection of toys and games, a growing book library, an art studio and craft corner, a thread works room, a STEM room, a performing arts room with a range of musical instruments, a carpentry shed, a pottery studio, a glass studio and lots more space to let your creativity flow!
What we do
Our key programme is the Individualised Engagement Programme (IEP), an after school programme for children aged 4-12. With this, we encourage children to be self-directed learners by giving them the choice to pick what they want to learn and go as far as they can pursuing that interest. Quest is divided into 7 zones, each of which have uniquely curated activities following the Bloom’s Taxonomy, a model that classifies learning based on complexity and specificity. The kids can pick from a plethora of activities across the space— cooking, aero-modelling, embroidery, weaving, painting, origami, singing, dancing, etc.
Learning primarily happens independently, with little intervention from the facilitators. The children have access to the relevant content organised on our iPads which they use to learn new skills and many of them have become fantastic (junior) facilitators as well. Over the span of 2 years, we have learnt that children learn best when they are empowered to choose their own path and set their own goals.
We also organise numerous workshops for children and adults over the weekend. These workshops are a chance for you to explore fascinating forms of art or improve skills you already have! Our specially curated events such as Halloween, Harry Potter Day, Parent & Child Day, etc are immensely popular and truly reflect what we believe in — learning and fun!
In addition, Quest has a karaoke group and a film club for adults which meet once a month in our Clapboard for singing, movies and fun!
